Terms of use

These are the terms for Wy5, Wyome’s top-five lists app for iPhone. They are short, and they are meant to be read.

Who these apply to

Wy5 is made by Wyome. These terms apply to anyone who uses it. You can browse Wy5 without an account; adding a list or using groups needs Sign in with Apple, and signing in means you agree to these terms. Using Wy5 at all, signed in or not, means you accept them.

Wy5 is free. It has no purchases and no ads.

What Wy5 is

You rank your top five for a topic, and your list is counted into the community results. You can also join private groups with an 8-character code. In a group you choose a display name for that group, members see each other’s display names and lists, and members can create topics of their own. Group names, topic titles, display names and the text of reports are all written by the people using Wy5.

What is not allowed

Wy5 has zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. That covers everything you write or do in the app, including lists, group names, topic titles, display names and reports. Do not use Wy5 for:

What we do about it

An automated filter rejects certain words before they are posted. In the app, anyone can report a group, a member, a topic or an entry, and anyone can block another member, after which the person who blocked them no longer sees them. A group’s host can remove members from it.

Reports go to a person at Wyome, who aims to act on them within 24 hours. Wyome decides whether something breaks these terms. When it does, we can remove the content, hide topics or items, delete groups and suspend the accounts responsible, without notice where we judge that necessary.

Your content

What you write in Wy5 stays yours, and you are responsible for it. By adding it you give Wyome permission to store it, show it to other people in Wy5 and count it into results, within Wy5 and for as long as it is there.

You can delete your account in the app, under Settings. The privacy page describes what Wy5 stores and sends.

Other people’s content, and links

Entries are looked up on Wikipedia and Wikidata. Wikipedia’s summaries are published under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike licence (CC BY-SA) and are credited in the app; Wyome does not write them and cannot vouch for them. Lists and other text written by other people are theirs, not Wyome’s.

Links to Amazon are affiliate search links: if you buy something after following one, Wyome may earn a commission. What happens on Amazon is governed by Amazon’s own terms.

The service

Wy5 is provided as it is, with no promise that it will always be available or free of mistakes. We may change it, or stop running it, at any time. As far as the law allows, Wyome is not responsible for any loss that comes from using it.

Apple’s terms

Wy5 comes from the App Store, so Apple’s standard licence for App Store apps also applies to it, alongside these terms.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change, this page will change with them and so will the date below. Using Wy5 after a change means you accept the new version.
